Objectives of the HKCPMA:

1. To further our knowledge of psychiatry through
further seminars and workshop.

2.To disseminate knowledge of Community
psychiatry to fellow primary care doctors through
conjoint CME meetings with other associations e.g.
HKMA and HKDU.

3.To promote awareness of mood disorders and
common psychological problems to the public
through talks to schools,teachers,elderly
groups,etc.

4.To inform the public that mood disorders and
minor psychiatric problems can be adequately
dealt with by their family doctors with further
training in psychiatry.

5.To alleviate the pressure of long waiting time in
HA psychiatric OPD by offering better
public-private interface(how to do this is open for
discussion)

6.To promote communication between the
specialists of psychiatry and General practitoners.

7.To advise the Government on relevant issues in
community mental problems.
